Nioro-du-Sahel is located near the Mauritanian border. This city is built on the Rocheux Rocky Plateau. The road leading to the Mauritanian border is paved. Nioro was with Yélimané the capital of the Bambara kingdom of Du. Nioro-du-Sahel and Kayes are the warmest cities in Mali. If you come from Mauritania, you will necessarily pass through Nioro-du-Sahel or Nara. There is not much to see, except the mosque of El Hadj Omar Tall, which together with the Djenné mosque are the two Holy Mosques of Mali.
