The Okashi Museum is located next to the fortress, in a building dating from the Ottoman period. The museum is mainly dedicated to the Israeli painter Avshalom Okashi (1916-1980), one of the most important leaders of the "New Horizons" art movement that developed abstract art in Israel after the War of Independence. Okashi spent most of his life in Acre. Another part of the museum features traveling exhibitions of contemporary Israeli art. Worth a visit if you are a painting enthusiast.
