MOUNT HIZKIYYAHU

18 km northwest of Eilat, Route 12 leads to the foot of Mount Hizkiyyahu, 838 m above sea level. From here, the view of the Eilat mountains and beyond to the Arava Valley to the north is splendid. To the west lies Egypt, with the ancient pilgrims' route to Cairo, and to the east the Edom mountains herald Jordan. The view is particularly striking at sunset (or sunrise), when the colors soften and turn golden, before the sun overwhelms the view.
