Built on the model of the Temple in Jerusalem, this large and beautiful synagogue, with its sumptuous stained glass windows, was consecrated in 1982. It houses an impressive collection of thousands of mezuzot (small receptacles containing two biblical passages, attached to the lintels of entrance doors and rooms in homes) dating from the 19th and 20th centuries. The Great Synagogue of Jerusalem has excellent acoustics and an exceptional choir.
