A fetish king, whose main role was to orchestrate the arrival of rain, is said to have inhabited the kingdom of Essing, which comprised seven districts, including Dioher, a lush village between Brin and Oussouye. Today, a few of the king's cousins remain, and it is possible to pay a courtesy visit to them. There are also sacred cheese trees that are at least seven centuries old, perhaps more. The people of Dioher gather before these fetishes for all sorts of wishes: to ensure that the rice harvest will be generous. For the fertility of women, too, who possess their own sacred wood, forbidden to men.
