Half way between the Cathedral and the Instituto Cabañas, behind the theatre, is Plaza Tapatía, inaugurated in February 1982. Its fountains and gardens form a rather successful ensemble. It hosts the very large Centro Joyereo (goldsmith shops) and right next door is the grand marché Libertad.
