Located in the northern part of the Bahia de Magdalena, Adolfo López Mateos is located on a beautiful coastline dotted with white sand dunes and large estuaries surrounded by mangroves, the preferred habitat of thousands of resident and migratory birds. The village has 2,500 inhabitants and its main activity is fishing: sardines, abalone(abulón) and lobsters.As the bay is narrower here, the port of Adolfo López Mateos is an ideal starting point for observing grey whales, which find a suitable refuge for their mating and birthing rituals (mainly from January to March).
