A popular place of worship, built on the remains of older buildings destroyed by various earthquakes in Oaxaca.

You will not fail to discover this imposing building while strolling around the Zócalo. Although it does not have the same architectural and ornamental splendour as others in the region, it is nevertheless a popular place of worship, erected in the 18th century on the remains of older buildings destroyed by various earthquakes. Interestingly, its facade was built from cantera, a volcanic rock found in the region, which was used in the construction of many buildings in Oaxaca.

Admirer la Cathédrale de Oaxaca
La cathédrale de Oaxaca est située sur le Zocalo, place principale. Ses extérieurs sont très beaux avec de nombreux détails dans les personnages de la façade. Je n'avais pas le temps pour une visite intérieure et je me suis contentée d'en admirer l'extérieur. Il est cependant dommage que sa base ait été taguée, incompréhensible dans un pays où la ferveur catholique est si présente.

Cette cathédrale est non seulement un monument magnifique, mais aussi une impression très forte de religion. La visite vaut le détour, et les offices réguliers plongent dans la ferveur religieuse mexicaine.
Les processions sont également très fortes.
