Several airlines operate from Oaxaca Airport, including Aeromexico, Vivaaerobus Volaris, for domestic destinations. United Epress and American Eagle offer flights to the USA (Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles and Houston), and Aerotucan to the Pacific coast. When you leave the airport, go to the ticket office of one of the companies offering collectivos to the city centre. This is the fastest and cheapest way to get to your hotel.

From this small terminal, minibuses leave for Puerto Escondido, taking the most direct and mountainous road. The landscapes are superb and sometimes vertiginous, the whole thing is all curves and the speed doesn't improve things... Expect the minibus to make many stops throughout the day, even if it means taking passengers when there is not really any free seat left. We tighten a little, and that passes!

La Alameda de León is a charming park located next to the central square (Zócalo) of the city of Oaxaca. Once a potters' market, it was transformed into a garden in 1840 thanks to the idea of Governor Antonio de León and his secretary Benito Juárez. The park was inaugurated in 1843 and named in honor of its founder. In 1885, a statue of General Antonio de León, defender of the homeland, was erected in the park. Recently refurbished, the park has been restored to its original appearance and offers magnificent views of the cathedral and other surrounding buildings.
