The decision to build the cathedral on the very site where the first parish was installed in 1555 was taken in 1904. But earthquakes and hurricanes would gradually postpone the initial project, which was finally concluded in the early 50 s. Its Byzantine towers and dome reminiscent of Ottoman mosques make its originality. Inside, the walls are blue and the white and gold floor.
