Ex-convent of San Diego, of baroque style with a sober facade, totally decorated by the local artist Joaquin Ortega in 1915

Also known as the ex-convent of San Diego, the building was completed in 1716; its sober façade and tower remain from the Baroque style. Its interior is special: it was completely decorated by the local artist Joaquin Ortega in 1915. These elements of rare opulence were made of clay and plaster, a joyful mixture of European and indigenous traditions. Breathtaking: a must-see. Don't forget to look up so you don't miss anything.

Un peu à l’écart du centre ville, une partie de cet ensemble de bâtiment abrite aussi l’université de droit et sciences humaines locales. L’intérieur de la cathédrale elle-même explose de couleur. Mieux vaut ne pas allergique au kitsch !
