SEMANA SANTA

Many towns and villages in Mexico commemorate the Passion, Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus by staging theatrical representations of this religious event. The most impressive performance is undoubtedly that of Iztapalapa, in Mexico City. The performance, which has been held since 1843, begins in the main square of Iztapalapa (metro "Iztapalapa"), continues through the streets of Iztapalapa and ends on the Cerro de la Estrella, where Jesus Christ and the two thieves are crucified.
