FÊTES PATRONALES DE AZUA DE COMPOSTELLE

During the patron saint's day in Azua de Compostela, fairs, music, dances and alcohol are held in honour of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, patron saint of the town. There is a lot of entertainment: donkey races, Baile de los Enmascarados (also known as the "ribbon dance", with the dancers' eyes covered by a ribbon) and a cavalcade of "devils" through the streets. Religious celebrations are also held. Here, as in Bani in November or in the whole country during Semana Santa, the temperature rises very quickly!
