Ruins of 3 castles at an altitude of 584 m, at the top of the Schlossberg, offering a tour of the entire site

The ruins of three castles (Petit and Grand Ochsenstein and Wachelheim) can be found at the top of the Schlossberg, 584 meters above sea level. Allow around an hour and a half to visit the entire site. The oldest of these castles probably dates from the 10th century, making it one of the oldest in the region. They were destroyed and rebuilt many times over the centuries, following wars and conflicts. The last reconstruction dates back to 1559, but as soon as it was completed, the building caught fire, and the already dislocated and penniless family abandoned it.
