With its rum museum, this much-visited site provides an insight into all the stages involved in making Martinique AOC rum.
A visit not to be missed! The Musée du Rhum and the Maison de la Distillerie (Distillery House), located in the grounds of the actual distillery still in operation on the plantation in the Bourg de Sainte-Marie, are particularly well-equipped sites for discovering the history and techniques involved in making Martinique's agricultural rum, one of the best in the world! A must-see is the ride on the old plantation train, which used to transport sugar cane to the factory, and which takes you all the way to Habitation La Salle.
