Zero Sound Insulation = 1 Star

Le Jardin Malanga fails completely in delivering a serene and upscale hotel experience simply because its rooms—as experienced during my stay—lack any sound insulation.

When a couple travels many hours to a hotel promising a luxury experience, they expect a basic standard of privacy, and aural privacy is paramount.

Sadly, our cabin at Jardin Malanga had an adjoining suite, and the two suites had only a thin louvered door separating them. Within a couple hours of arriving, we were subjected to a loud argument by the family in the adjoining suite that involved the mother yelling at her children and the children back-talking the parents. We heard every word as if the family was in our own suite. Afterward, we discovered that we could even hear whispers and shushing through the walls/door.

How in the world is anyone “getting away from it all” when they have less sound privacy than in a youth hostel?

We actually enjoyed all other aspects of the hotel and grounds, and the employees were very kind and helpful, but going back to our room was a dread because we didn’t know what noise we’d be subjected to or what of our sounds would be broadcast as well.

In other words, the terrible sound insulation at an upscale property like this overshadows and detracts from all of the good and pretty parts of Jardin Malanga. It’s like the proprietor is trying to focus on the facade, not the personal experience of, for example, guests not being disturbed while sleeping or not being a disturbance while being intimate.

The owner and management of Jardin Malanga should be ashamed of failing guests in this crucial aspect of the “hospitality business,” and should at least alert guests prior to confirming reservations that sound insulation is non-existent and, therefore, paradise is not private.

We hadden ons veel voorgesteld van ons verblijf op Jardin Malanga. De locatie is voortreffelijk, de tuin, het zwembad, het uitzicht en het koloniale huis ook. Het welkom van Helena was hartelijk. Dus tot zover alles in orde.

We knapten echter af op de kamer die wij geboekt hadden. Dit was kamer in het niet lang geleden gerestaureerde koloniale huis.
De inrichting was sober en niet wat je voor deze prijs mag verwachten: op de vloer lag linoleum, de verlichting klopte niet, het Lavazzo koffiezetapparaat werkte slecht en de badkamer was zeer onhandig ingericht. Er was geen aparte douchecabine. De badkamer wás de douchecabine, met daarin een toilet en een wastafel. Met als gevolg dat de hele badkamer nat was als je gedoucht had. Er stond weliswaar een vloerwisser in de hoek, maar dat wil je niet in een kamer van dit prijsniveau… Daarbij komt ook dat de badkamer van de buren aan die van ons grensde en dat het heel gehorig was: gesprekken kon je letterlijk horen, zo ook douche- en toiletgeluiden…

Het diner van de Table d’Hôtes was in orde, maar niet speciaal.

Al met al hadden we meer verwacht van ons verblijf in Jardin Malanga.

Sehr schöne und topp gepflegte Anlage! Die Aussicht ist phänomenal, kleiner und feiner Pool. Das mitgebuchte Abendessen war landestypisch, hochwertig und immer chic angerichtet. Das Frühstück eher simpel, aber ausreichend. Ruhig im Regenwald gelegen, PKW absolut erforderlich. Für Kinder möglich, aber ungeeignet. Ebenso für Personen mit Gehbehinderung. Für alle mit Wunsch nach Ruhe und Authentizität große Klasse!

Excellent séjour de 4 nuits en demi-pension passés avec nos 2 enfants : Un jardin fleuri et verdoyant, un cottage au charme avec vue sur les Saintes. L'accueil est particulièrement agréable et la cuisine, aux saveurs locales, est excellente. Nous recommandons vivement ce lieu pour sa situation et son ambiance intimiste.

Personnellement j’ai été assez déçu de mon séjour. Presque 400€ la nuit avec petit déjeuner !!! J’ai du mal à comprendre l’appréciation des gens ? La chambre mansardée dans la maison principale est vraiment sombre vous devez être couché coté gauche du lit pour voir les saintes, du balatum sur le sol ????la salle de bain est très rustique, serviettes et peignoir élimés , pas de moustiquaires comme vous êtes dans le toit il fait étouffant ( airco à fond jour et nuit)
Concernant le petit déjeuner toujours la même chose 2 morceaux de fromage 2 morceaux de jambon, 1 petit pain sans goût et tout mou (impossible d’avoir un œuf pas possible d’avoir un cappuccino convenable sans chocolat et sucre (machine automatique) viennoiseries surgelées et ultra grasse… la salle de déjeuner et de souper est sombre et triste éclairage blanc désagréable avec des fenêtres en plastique ??? Alors qu’il fait chaud ??? À la mer du nord je comprendrais ???
Le positif: un beau jardin un beau salon et la maison pour faire une belle photo ????

Cadre somptueux, coupé du monde avec un très bon accueil d’Héléna et Ricardo sans oublié le très bon dîner préparé par Ricardo.
À découvrir absolument.

Grundsätzlich super. Das Apartment roch etwas antik. Frühstück war gut und das Restaurant war das beste während unseres ganzen Karibik Urlaubs.

Superbe vue, des petits déjeuners excellent, une piscine agréable et un environnement qui fait rêver. Un grand merci à toute l'équipe !

We wanted simply a quiet respite, a few days to unwind and relax. We found exactly this at Le Jardin Malanga. It is not a resort offering a lot of activities - plenty of those elsewhere. The sea view with the garden setting is perfectly conducive to spending some quiet time immersed in reading or writing or meditation. There is a small pool, suitable for dipping during the heat of the day. The accommodation (we were in a cottage room for two, with a lovely shaded terrace) was ideal. Every day is topped off by a very different and imaginative dinner prepared by the chef, featuring local produce, really a highlight of the day. There is no nearby village where you can walk for dinner. Access to the resort is by car only, either a rental car or a taxi service, both of which are easily arranged. Next time we go, we will forgo the rental car - no reason to leave! The staff is friendly and efficient. This is definitely one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. One small suggestion: please get a couple more sun umbrellas for the pool deck; I would like to sit and read there, but not in full-on sun.

Le cadre du site est magnifique. Le personnel est très attentionné. La chambre dans la maison coloniale fut spacieuse mais très sombre avec l’éclairage présent. Très bon service de restauration. La piscine était froide mais outre c’est quelques détails, nous avons apprécié notre séjour.

What a great hotel. Beautiful views and a relaxing atmosphere. The breakfasts are very good and the dinners are exceptional.
Very kind and helpful caretakers as well.
Would definitely stay again if given the chance.

Un hôtel de charme. Une vue incroyable sur les Saintes. Un jardin superbe. Un accueil personnalisé.

Wow, juste incroyable, le prix vaut le coup, les gens sont gentils, le restaurent est très bon tout comme le petit déjeuner et il y a une piscine pour les enfants. C'est un Must si vous cherchez un hôtel dans le coin

La maison principale est magnifique et authentiques
Les chambres sont d un bon confort mais mériterait une meilleure insonorisation.
Le restaurant est également très bon !

Notre séjour porte à sa fin et nous avons été enchanté du début à la fin. L‘endroit est paradisiaque, propice au repos et au dépaysement, le service était impeccable. De plus Christine, la responsable de l’établissement a été merveilleuse, toujours à l’écoute, elle nous a beaucoup renseigné sur l’île et a été aux petits soins. Nous avons eu droit a un accueil très personnalisé et c’était parfait.
