The site has become an extraordinary sanctuary for biodiversity. It is home to a wide variety of bird species, including waterfowl. Part of the area is classified as a nature reserve. Several windmills can be found just a few minutes from the dam. An easily accessible discovery trail offers a pleasant stroll (approx. 30 min round trip).
