RANDONNÉE CROIX DU NIVOLET

Overlooking Chambéry and the lake of Bourget, the huge cross decorating the Nivolet is an emblem of the region. This easy, family hike offers a breathtaking view on the valley and the surrounding mountains (including the Mont Blanc and especially the Granier). After having reached the parking lot of the Sire, take the time to reach the viewpoint, behind the restaurant, before starting your hike. It takes about 1h15 to reach the Cross from the chalet du Sire. The walk starts on the left of the ski lift. At the top of the lift, it is common to see paragliders taking off. In winter, the itinerary is easily accessible with snowshoes. A pleasant walk in summer, well shaded, and magnificent in winter when the snow covers the trees. If there is an essential hike around Chambéry, it is without question this one.
