NOTRE-DAME DE VALFLEURY SHRINE

Nestled in the Gier Valley, the sanctuary was created in the 9th century when a statue of the Virgin was discovered in a blooming broom a few days before Christmas. A chapel was immediately built nearby to house this Virgin with the golden broom. This sanctuary quickly became a place of pilgrimage. The sanctuary of Valfleury offers pilgrims different places of prayer and walks: the Calvary; a Way of the Cross; different crosses; the statue of the Immaculate Conception; the Chair of the Virgin Mary, an arid rock...
