ABBAYE

The abbey of Montagny makes the village more than millennium, since it is shortly after the founding of the Benedictine abbey of Charlieu in 872, which was founded around 900 l'abbaye Saint-Sulpice de Montagny. The monks appointed the priest of Montagny, but shared with the population the maintenance of the church. In the th century, this abbey was served by a chapter of three priests.
