When you reach the first houses of this village, it is difficult to ignore that we are indeed entering the kingdom of stone. Moreover, they had not been mistaken, the first inhabitants of the region, the Tricastini whose name means: land of white stone! Saint-Restitut is an ancient episcopal city named after the first bishop of Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux. But who was Saint Restitut? It would be the blind man healed by the hands of Christ. Indeed, he fled Judea on a frail skiff to fail on the Arles side and come to evangelize the people of our region. Built around the tomb of this saint who saw Jesus with his new eyes, the city deserves a visit first and foremost for its church, a masterpiece of Provençal Romanesque art with its typical bell tower.
