Zigeunerfels is a small semi-troglodytic castle built in the century by a branch of the Wasigenstein family
Zigeunerfels, Alsatian for "Gypsy Rock", is a small semi-troglodytic castel built in the 14th century by a branch of the Wasigenstein family. Was it an advanced defensive post, or an aid to the placement of the members of this large family? No one knows. Today, all that remains of the building is a staircase cut into the rock and the remains of walls on the platform. The castle is difficult to get to, so bring good shoes and be careful!
