Built on the eastern foothills of the Sainte-Baume massif, surrounded by a large state forest, the Charterhouse of Montrieux was founded in the 12th century. Despite several interruptions caused by wars, looting, destruction and other adversities, the monastery is still active today. Although nothing remains of the original buildings, a dozen monks still live there. The monument is therefore only visible from the outside, but it is a nice walk.
