Hotel with limited comfort in wooded landscapes, at the foot of the Valley of Wonders.

At an altitude of 1,500 m, at the foot of the Vallée des Merveilles, the Neige-Merveilles site is aimed at those who prefer limited comfort, but what a setting! It's reached on foot (15 min.) via a tiny road that's only accessible to the site's 4x4 vehicles, and runs alongside a torrent. At the end of a small valley, in a landscape sometimes wooded, sometimes mineral, reminiscent of certain features of Nepal. The restored hamlet stands on the site of the largest medieval silver mine in southern France, which opened its doors to visitors in June 2023.

La Clef Verte. Closed from mid October to Christmas. Mountain refuge style accommodation in winter. Capacity of 120 beds. €. Rooms for 2 or more people, shared bathrooms with two neighboring rooms. Animals not allowed in the Mercantour. Catering.

Very kind staff in a beautiful situated spot for entering Vallée des Merveilles! Somehow, this old mine with its nice buildings needs a person who has an overview and really cares to make it a beautiful place to overnight.

Super découverte et visite guidée de la Mine de Vallauria ! Située juste à côté de Neige et Merveilles, important à savoir car pour l instant mal indiqué car elle vient de rouvrir au public . Il vous faudra avoir de bonne chaussures et des vêtements chaud pour descendre dans la mine. Merci à notre guide pour cette belle visite!
Je ne met que 4 étoiles, à cause du peu d indications pour trouver la mine, c est dommage car beaucoup de personnes passent à côté de ce joyaux... sur place vous trouverez gites, restauration, toilettes. Pas accessible en voiture, il vous faudra faire quelques kilomètres à pieds avec une montée en caillasse environ 25mn/30mn.
