What is the Flower Cities and Villages competition?

This competition consists in awarding municipalities a series of "Flowers" (from one to four) corresponding to the criteria of the "Flower City or Village" label. These flowers are affixed to a specific signage represented by a panel at the entrance of the commune. The Villes et Villages Fleuris label aims to enhance the value of municipalities that work to create an environment that is favourable to the reception and well-being of inhabitants and tourists. It rewards the actions carried out by local authorities in favour of a plant and natural heritage conducive to improving the quality of life. The Flower City or Flower Village label is awarded according to a precise charter based on three sets of criteria: "Landscaped and vegetal heritage", "Sustainable development and living environment" and "Tourist entertainment and promotion".
