MAMAC welcomes "Collectors" on the first floor from February 21 to May 10, 2015. MAMAC is 25 years old in 2015! In order to celebrate its quarter century, the museum, which is one of the most important museums of contemporary art in Europe, has decided to return to one of its fundamentals: its collection. COLLECTORS therefore, to collect, preserve and showcase major works (a range of over 200 works representing a quarter of its permanent collection). The project, which makes use of the entire MAMAC space on its three levels, takes the strongest possible advantage of a single large exhibition based on its permanent collection, the aim being to enhance the value of the permanent collection while renewing public interest in modern and contemporary art. The Galerie des Ponchette presents a set of black and white photographs in the MAMAC collection from February 3 to May 3, 2015. The Théâtre de la Photographie et de l'Image welcomes "Patrick Swirc" from 14 February to 25 May 2015. French photographer, Patrick SWIRC photographs anonymous and celebrities for the biggest magazines (Libération, Next, Télérama, Elle, etc.)In the universe of the people, the powerful, the phantasmagorical, Patrick Swirc, prolific and renowned author, makes true those who often make illusions. He drops the mask of personalities who are used to printing on film. Each portrait becomes an icon, which is not surprising for this author who loves vanities. The Musée d'Archéologie de Nice presents "L'objet incarné" from 13 February to 3 May 2015. This is an exhibition that will allow visitors to discover the use of the archaeological objects kept at the Musée de Cimiez by putting them into perspective within pictorial representations created by Marie-Christine Lemayeur and Bernard Alunni. These very beautiful original illustrations, some of which will represent reconstructions of the ancient Cemenelum of Cimiez in Nice, will be confronted with archaeological objects in order to give new life to them in the context of a museographical device that is both educational and fun. Galerie de la Marine presents Natacha Lesueur "Exotic Tragedy" from February 28 to May 31, 2015. Natacha Lesueur presents 14 photographs, 4 ceramics and a film around the figure of Carmen Miranda, a stereotype of Latin American exoticism and sensuality in Hollywood blockbusters of the 1950s. The artist brings the media dimension of the actress into play here and entirely recomposes it: poses, sets, make-up, costumes. Natacha Lesueur digs into the surface of this complex being - cultural, political, social - full of contradictions and ambiguities to make it the personification of a new concept: that of a media, racial and sexual reification. The Matisse Museum offers "Regards sur la collection : une palette d'objets", a dossier exhibition open to the public since January 23rd, 2015. From February onwards, the museum will be presenting a presentation of the collection of objects that once belonged to Matisse, under the title "Regards sur la collection, une palette d'objets" (A look at the collection, a palette of objects). This title is part of a series of exhibitions-folders, already carried out on sculpture and engraving, intended to make the characteristics of the museum's collections better known. Different aspects of the collection of objects, related to works and documents, will be exhibited in turn, as well as new donations and some specific loans.
