Les Tours are part of the enclosure elevated around 1370 that linked the old town to the citadel. They had to protect the city from large companies which, out of the kingdom of France during the long Hundred Years War, attacked and plundered the cities of Provence. There is one remaining near the entrance to the citadel while other four are still visible in the city centre, near the church on the outskirts of the old city.
