The Château de Tiffauges is a must-see site and one of the most visited in the Vendée. Listed as a historic monument, the château was once the property of Gilles de Rais, Marshal of France and Joan of Arc's comrade-in-arms during the Hundred Years' War. A typical example of medieval military architecture. Clinging to a rocky spur, on an exceptional site above the Sèvre nantaise, the Château de Tiffauges invites visitors to discover its astonishing conservatory of medieval war machines. In 1992, it was the first site in the world to present live firing demonstrations using reconstituted medieval war machines. Château de Tiffauges has some fifteen pieces in its conservatory of war machines put to the test during performances. The château presents live firing demonstrations, approached in a fun and educational way. Young and old alike can try their hand at firing projectiles from these unique and impressive machines. Catapulted into history, you'll enjoy a half-day of shows and entertainment, and relive the history of Tiffauges in 3D cinema. With their families, children can practice jousting on wooden horses and try their hand at games of skill inspired by the Middle Ages (shuffleboard, ring games, Puissance 4, barrels, stick games). Open from April 1 to September 10, 2023. In June: weekdays from 10am to 6pm, weekends and public holidays from 2pm to 7pm. High season: open daily from 10am to 7pm. April, May and September: weekdays 10am to 12:30pm and 2pm to 6pm (Wednesday to Friday in September), weekends and public holidays 2pm to 7pm. Adults €10/€12, 12-25 years €8/€10, families €30/€36. Costume tours for children aged 5 to 8, weekends and public holidays in April, May, June and September, and daily in July and August. Shows and entertainment. Wednesday evenings from July 22 to August 19.

Fait en avril, sur un après midi maussade.
Un spectacle avec chevaliers en point d’orgue, des essais de machines de guerre du Moyen Âge et toutes les explications qui vont autour et des ateliers sur l’archerie, ou encore avec le maître d’armes qui expliquent l’art de la guerre à cette époque. + une visite du château avec explications ou la vie de Gilles de Rais dit Barbe Bleue ou les explications sur les techniques de construction. Une moitié des attractions environ est couverte. Une belle découverte à recommander !!
