COMERA CUISINES

Comera Cuisines is a manufacturer of fitted kitchens. He is the one who is at the origin of the fitted kitchen. Using creativity, he rationalizes space and creates custom kitchens. These are designed and manufactured at its Vendée site in Saint-Philbert-de-Bouaine (85) and labelled Origine France garantie.

History. In 1945, France emerged from the war and wanted to rebuild quickly, at a reasonable cost. This phase of reconstruction is leading to new desires among the French, particularly in terms of their way of life, which they want to see renewed and modernized. The population is demanding practical facilities, the mechanization of household tasks, industrial aesthetics is encouraged and is developing: the whole environment must be functional. It is in this atmosphere that Marcel Gascoin, a visionary cabinetmaker passionate about design, will introduce the general public to his "rational" furniture. He created the Compagnie des Meubles rationnels: Comera. Since the 1960s, Comera kitchens have been very successful. In the 1980s, Comera Cuisines developed its offer and deployed in Northern Europe, particularly in the United Kingdom. Functionality and efficiency are the spearheads of the architectural principles applied by Marcel Gascoin on his integrated kitchen models. He will have learned two important lessons from his experience on boat furniture: first of all, rationalism, because in a boat, no space is lost and the furniture must be as useful and as small as possible. Secondly, the robustness of the materials: simple and effective furniture reminiscent of the brass-reinforced teak structures of maritime furniture. For the layout of his kitchens, Marcel Gascoin's innovative idea is to create modular kitchen elements that can fit together to optimize storage space as much as possible: the kitchen designer's profession was born.
