The final episode of the Vendée War took place on March 23, 1796, in the Chabotterie woods in this commune, where General Charette de la Contrie was captured. In the kitchen of the dwelling, a typical 16th-century Bas-Poitou dwelling, the original table bears witness to the passage of the wounded General Charette after his arrest. The Logis de la Chabotterie groups the dwelling and outbuildings around an enclosed courtyard. Furnished historic rooms reflect the atmosphere of 18th-century life. A scenographic space with giant screens, sound effects, virtual dialogues and an innovative mobile listening system: follow in the footsteps of Charette and the Vendée generals on a multimedia tour. An immersive experience to understand the reasons for the war, the military strategies of both sides, the emblematic characters... The Domaine Départemental de la Chabotterie also boasts 48 hectares, including a walled garden, a kitchen garden and a pleasure garden (120 varieties of flowers). Stroll along the bridle path, discover the orchard, the plant maze... New for 2025: immersive summer show in the heart of the Logis, from July 8 to August 31. Concerts Musiques au Logis from July 15 to 31 (reservations on evenements.vendee.fr). Outdoor trails: "Discovery trail on the Chabotterie estate", "Charette's lost treasure", "Charette's last steps", "Les petits pas du Logis" and "Mission nature". Visit an 18th century dwelling and its estate
The Department of Vendée offers the Logis de la Chabotterie an evocative discovery of the gentle way of life in the countryside at the end of the 18th century, through 10 historically furnished rooms.
Site of General Charette's arrest in 1796, this Mecca of the Vendée War presents a multimedia scenographic tour retracing the main stages of the conflict.
The French-inspired garden, with its medicinal plants, vegetable garden and vegetables of yesteryear, as well as the ornamental garden with more than 120 varieties of flowers. Also visit the 48 ha wooded park, a green trail with ornamental garden, vegetable garden, wash house, river, meadows and woods.

Haut lieu des guerres de Vendée, à visiter absolument pour les amoureux d'histoire. Le système d'audio-guide est très bien, des heures de visite possible. Le personnel est très sympathique. Entre le musée et le château, très intéressant, et les jardins sont également à visiter.
Au Marché de Noël uniquement de la nourriture, plan de circulation pour accéder catastrophique, dangereux pour les gens qui habitent pas loin, infernal pour ceux qui vivent à seulement quelques km et doivent se taper la voie rapide et des bouchons interminables pour juste s y rendre ou rentrer chez eux.
Bref le cadre est vraiment beau mais c est un peu mort????
Les Floralies vont sans doute donner un coup de Pep's joyeux et dépoussiérant ????
