This site at Rives-d'Autise, is the center of a tribal territory, composed of a triple enclosure of ditches dug in the limestone.
This site, which dates back to 2400 BC, consists of a triple enclosure of ditches dug into the limestone. In all, there are 2 km of ditches dug by Neolithic man, covering an area of 3 ha. The Neolithic men used antler picks and shovels made from bovine shoulder blades. The centre of a tribal territory, Champ-Durand seems to have had several functions: defensive site - fortress -, meeting place, cemetery, market place.
