An authentic site to discover the history of milling in Rives-d'Autise, a testimony to daily life in a rural environment.

On the edge of the Marais Poitevin, in this authentic site dating from 1728, discover the history of the milling industry around its working water mill, a testimony to daily life in rural areas at the beginning of the 20th century. A modern museography proposes a 10-step tour through a story told in the company of Suzanne, daughter of the miller, the mill cat, the washerwomen and the baker... On the programme: family/children's activities, exhibitions, shows, bread workshops... Also worth seeing is the guided tour of the mill in operation with the miller.

Accueil vélo. Quality Tourism. Open from March 22 to November 03. Low season: open Tuesday to Friday, Sundays and public holidays, 2pm to 6pm. High season: daily, 10:30am to 1pm and 2pm to 6:30pm. Free admission for children under 12. Adults: €5. Youth (13-17 years): €3.50. Children's welcome (booklet-game, Baludik 'Auguste en-quête du moulin virtual tour, free). Gift store.

Un lieu de découverte. Le parcours est pédagogique et le visiteur immerge dans la journée d'un meunier ( son travail mais aussi sa vie quotidienne). Un moulin ( qui fonctionne encore et qui garde un rôle dans l'économie locale) en action et une boutique qui propose une large gamme de produits régionaux ( dont des farines, évidemment). L'accueil est très sympathique et le meunier aime son travail et le fait partager au public. Bravo à l'ensemble du personnel pour l'entretien et la valorisation du patrimoine.

Quelle agréable surprise de visiter ce moulin toujours en fonction. Le meunier actuel nous a bien expliqué les différentes étapes. C était très intéressant....surtout avec un guide du métier !!! SUPER !! La partie des appartements nous ont été contés par une personne bénévole tout aussi impliquée ..nous avons passé un agréable moment. Merci à vous.
