Chaussée built in 1812 by Jean-Corneille Jacobsen de la Rosnière, a jetty converted into a bicycle and pedestrian path
Built in 1812 by Jean-Corneille Jacobsen de la Rosnière (1750-1834), an engineer from a Dutch family who had settled in Noirmoutier since the 18th century. This causeway played a central role in the landscape of the island, allowing the development of both sides of the salt marshes, by creating a towpath and a canal for access to the port. On one side, along the canal, the boat cemetery, on the other, the Müllembourg Polder, an ornithological reserve. The jetty is laid out as a cycle and pedestrian path for a beautiful walk.
