Creative and seasonal cuisine by Philippe Pleuen, good value for money, in a restaurant facing the ocean.

La Pilotine has given itself a nice makeover! With his wife Blanche, Philippe Pleuen, the chef, a discreet craftsman trained at Faugeron, then a starred chef at Le Scribe, selects the products with care to offer an accomplished cuisine with a top quality/price ratio! The menu varies according to the season with the following dishes: hot oysters stuffed with lobster, duck foie gras rolled in spices, lobster casserole, roasted duck filet, cream of morels... And for dessert: fresh coconut, red fruit giboulée; chocolate mi-cuit, hazelnut emulsion.

Open all year round. Low season: Wednesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner; Sunday for lunch. High season: Tuesday to Sunday lunch and dinner. Menus : 18 € (except Saturday evening, Sunday and holidays), 32 €.

Owner's Message LA PILOTINE

At "La Pilotine", our menu "SUR LE POUCE" at 18 € is served EVERY DAY LUNCH AND EVENING except Saturday evening, Sunday and public holidays.


"La Pilotine" is closed on Sunday evening and Monday.


"La Pilotine" will reopen its doors from Tuesday, June 2, 2020 in accordance with national health regulations. We are waiting for you!

We also propose "La Pilotine" ... to take away... don't hesitate!


To better satisfy you, our menu evolves according to the seasonal products that we work on the spot and we also make our own bread. The "home-made" dishes are made on the spot from raw products.

Suivant l’avis du Petit Futé, nous sommes allé un midi, avec deux déjeuners Sur le Pouce. Un vrai régal, une cuisine fine et délicate, des plats bien chauds , et un très bel accueil. Une très bonne adresse assurément

Had dinner there with my parents and brother and I can say it was a success. I did some research before choosing this place, and boy are we all happy (and we are difficult to please in matters regarding food hahaha).
First of all the location is perfect. It is in front of the beach Des Sables d'Olonne and you can eat watching the ocean.
The place itself is nice without overdoing it and reflects the charisma and quality that work there. Only thing I can think of is it can get a bit hot inside.
The service was just impeccable, from the ordering, wine selection, cleaning after until our leave.
The food...was simply incredible. They have 3 main menus at 18, 30, and 42euros and all of them will adapt to what price and experience you are willing to have/take. All of them have at least 3 dishes to choose from the different parts of the menu.
They also have a special degustation menu if you want to try their best dishes. It's 56 euros that is basically a menu that everyone shares (since you all eat from the same base, you all have to pay the same price).
The drinks are paid apart from the menu.
We all tried the different plates from the 30€ menu and it was exquisite. I highly recommend the foie gras or salade langoustine as first. The cocotte, or lamb, or tuna as main, and the chocolate fondant as desert. These were the great winners for us but both the taste, textures, portions, etc of every dish were above average.
I highly recommend this place if you enjoy high quality food, and don't want to or can't spend over 70€ to eat gourmet food with small portions of food. The quality and freshness you will get here is worth it.

C'est l'avis du petit futé qui nous a conduit à découvrir ce restaurant ainsi que
le mot du propio avec le détail des 3 menus (TB).
Accueil souriant, cadre sympa et placement avec vue sur le remblai (réservation).
Nous avons pris le menu de saison à 30 €, pour des plats qui sont frais et travaillés, que l’on peut qualifier de gastronomiques. Belle présentation dans de belles assiettes.
En entrées : Foie gras de canard roulé aux épices, ravioles d’asperges (+ petites langoustines)
En plats : Belle brochette de coquilles St Jacques (x3), cocotte avec saumon (majoritaire) deux petits morceaux de lotte et une St Jacques (assiette chaude mais cocotte tiède !).
En desserts : Tarte fine aux fraises et son Sorbet Mojito, Mi-cuit au chocolat et glace menthe/chocolat.
Nous nous sommes régalés, malgré la cocotte de lotte un peu décevante.
Verre de vin à 5 € (15 ou 10 cl), bonne formule pour l'accord mets/vin.
Service souriant et efficace.
En semaine un menu "sur le pouce" à 18 € qui semble plaire.
Parkings à proximité ou le long du remblai (promenade Godet) et gratuit.

Une exceptionnel surprise en ce début soirée...un Parmentier de foie gras divin , une tajine de homard surprenante a vous couper le souffle non vraiment la bravo!!!
Seul bémol toutefois , qui n'a rien à voir à cette cuisine au "top" et dont les propriétaires ne sont pas forcément responsables , les toilettes...comment des clients peuvent ils être aussi irrespectueux !!!

En Vendée, voisin de la Charente, je n'ai pas regretté mon escapade dans ce restaurant du front de mer. Un décor aux tons jaune orangé. Un accueil et un service très agréable. Des produits frais, une belle présentation de l'assiette, un Bib Gourmand Michelin bien mérité.
