The stilted pontoons of L'Aiguillon-la-Presqu'île's famous mussel and oyster farming port.
With its pontoons on stilts, the small port of l'Aiguillon-sur-Mer has kept its charm and authenticity through this singularity. It is located in the Lay estuary. It has nothing in common with the other Vendée ports, except perhaps the Port du Bec in Bouin, as it has no quays. Indeed, the mooring is done on wooden booms. The places for the boats are delimited by piles driven into the mud. It is renowned for its mussel and oyster farming activities.
