Stud farm founded in 1843 with a cultural, heritage and tourist centre linked to the horse, equestrian demonstrations for the whole family to enjoy
Built in 1843, the Haras de la Vendée covers over 4.5 hectares in the heart of the Vendée prefecture, La Roche-sur-Yon. Designed by the architect Malet, the stud features two landmark buildings, all set in a pleasant, well-kept English garden, a veritable green lung in the heart of the Vendée prefecture. The Haras de la Vendée is home to a cultural, heritage and tourism center dedicated to horses. A visit with the whole family will reveal the skills of the saddlers and farriers. You'll also be able to watch work sessions and observe the various stages in the creation of an equestrian act. The guided tour gives you a glimpse of the horses, donkeys and ponies, as well as the mares. In July and August, the whole family can join in the fun with equestrian demonstrations, interactive educational workshops for adults and children, an equestrian tale for children (aged 4-10), and costume visits for children. You'll also experience the main stages in a pony's day at the Haras de la Vendée, as well as carriage rides. As a family, enjoy self-guided tours with adventure books and question boxes, where children can follow Martin and Laura as they discover the Haras. New for 2025: grand equestrian show from July 6 to August 31. Christmas at the Stud: from December 20, 2025 to January 4, 2026. The gardens are accessible free of charge outside the Stud's opening periods.
