PIGNEROLLE PARK
A sumptuous park, with a majestic path, lined with hundred-year-old oaks towards the castle, surrounded by meadows and undergrowth
Push the doors of history by discovering this sumptuous park of nearly 80 hectares, classified as a historical monument. It is one of the rare examples of French-style gardens in this region where landscaped parks dominate. The main entrance offers a majestic path, lined with hundred-year-old oaks, towards the castle built in 1776. The latter, unfortunately, is not open to visitors, but it will remind you of the Petit Trianon of Versailles, from which it was largely inspired. Surrounded by meadows and undergrowth, this park is ideal for sportsmen, who will find orientation courses and jogging paths, as well as for families and quiet walkers. Surprisingly, the park is also home to World War II blockhouses, hidden behind the orangery. The association "Mémorial des bunkers du parc de Pignerolle" organizes guided tours all year round (ask the association for information). This historical and aesthetic place has also become, with time, an artistic place of Anjou. The Espace Artistique, an associative center whose committee selects each year paintings, sculptures and other plastic works to be exhibited in these 326 m² dedicated to art. Several events take place during the summer season, notably the "Jardins d'expression" festival, where students' works of art are exhibited. A journey between past and present that will not leave you indifferent!
