An elephant made of wood, leather and metal, 12 m high, circulates through the naval quarters, spraying passers-by.

The famous pachyderm lives on the Ile de Nantes, under the naves of the Galerie des Machines. This elephant made of wood, leather and metal is 12 m high and weighs 48 tons. It moves around the shipyard district, spraying passers-by with water. You climb on its back from its steel cathedral to the Carroussel des Mondes Marins where it drops you off for a ride. An unusual walk of about 30 minutes to discover the old site of the shipyards and the quays of the Loire.

In summer, open every day: departures from 10:15 am to 6:15 pm. The rest of the year, the days and times vary according to the seasons. For more information, call or visit the website. Free for children up to 4 years old. Ticket 8,50 €. (adult), 6,9 € (child). Family pass from 30,2 €. Each ticket gives access to the terraces of the Machine Shop and the prototype Branch of the Heron Tree. Holiday voucher. Only guide dogs are accepted.

Il surprend par ses dimensions l'éléphant de l'île aux machines. C'est l'un des symboles de la ville de Nantes. Il se balade dehors par beau temps et on peut se balader sur lui.

Une machine impressionnante, attention aux jets d'eau. Le tarifs et l'attente aux guichets nous ont freiné à monter sur de pachyderme mécanique. Mais on peut le suivre à pied, très bien aussi.
