GALLO-ROMAN MACKWILLER SITES
Gallo-Roman sites with the remains of a mausoleum, a common monument in the mid-second century AD.
Discover the remains of a mausoleum, probably originally multi-storied and built on a circular plan. This type of monument was quite common in north-eastern Gaul in the mid-second century AD. Further on, the thermal baths of a villa (a cultivated estate belonging to a wealthy landowner) were found, revealed in the 19th century by Pastor Ringel, who also left numerous sketches that can be seen in the museums of Strasbourg and Saverne.
