The Rocher de Mutzig is the highest point in the Vosges Massif in the Bas-Rhin region of France
At an altitude of 1,010 metres, the Rocher de Mutzig is the highest point in the Massif des Vosges in the Bas-Rhin region of France. In fact, it's a gigantic rock composed of various blocks of sandstone, themselves encrusted with pebbles: a geological peculiarity known as "poudingue". The Rocher offers a unique panorama of the valley, and remains one of the region's essential hiking stops. The surrounding area is covered with forests and peaks over 900 metres high. If you're lucky, you'll catch a glimpse of some of the local wildlife.
