LA PLACE DES HALLES
Triangular square, with century roofs on two sides and half-timbered houses on top
Since the Middle Ages, Place des Halles has played a key role in local heritage. Triangular in shape, it is bordered on two sides by 15th-century covered market halls, topped by charming half-timbered and corbelled 16th-century houses. The eponymous district is home to an open-air theater, built following the demolition of old ruined dwellings, while preserving the underground silos where crops have been stored since medieval times. The old well still stands in the middle of the square.
