The Fine Arts Museum located in the superb Foucaud Castle, with its magnificent French and Italian gardens

The Museum of Fine Arts is located in the superb 17th century Foucaud castle. The monument, surrounded by magnificent French and Italian gardens overlooking the Tarn, houses permanent exhibitions on two levels. The painting collection includes portraits and landscapes from the 19th and 20th centuries representing the various currents: classical, romantic, post-impressionist, expressionist and nabi. Another room is reserved for sculptures by Pendariès, a student of Mercié. Temporary exhibitions are regularly organized.

à découvrir d'urgence
Ce musée trop peu visité, mérite une notoriété qu'il n'a malheureusement pas ! Riche de plusieurs centaines d'œuvres d'artistes régionaux, souvent méconnus mais aux talents certains ! Ne pas manquer au second étage les portraits insolites et superbes de l'albigeoise Marie Brémond ( 1859-1941) et au premier étage le travail académique mais inventif du sculpteur de Carmaux Jean-Jules Pendariès (1862-1933).
Pour 4€, on en prends plein les yeux. La présentation et l'accompagnement documentaire sont exemplaires
