Museum allowing to plunge into the heart of the fascinating universe of the vineyard professions

Alchemists used to hide away in these cellars to work. Here, in the superb vaulted halls of Saint-Michel Abbey, this museum with its special atmosphere plunges visitors into the fascinating world of wine-making. Other worlds are also showcased, including sacred art, companionship, archaeology, navigation on the Tarn and popular arts and traditions. An interesting anecdote: the ^13th-century Virgin and Child, stolen from the church of Saint-Michel, was recovered and repatriated from Italy to the museum.

Vignobles et Découvertes. Low season: open Friday to Sunday, 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 6pm. High season: Wednesday to Sunday. Free admission for children under 12. Adults: €4 (concessions: €2). Free admission on 2nd Sunday of the month. Guided tour.

A very good refuge when heat wave that will transport you to the history of the city, the country and its men who created it. The visual and sound course in the lighting is a success. The film and exhibitions are quite including media, interactive screens and so much the better! It is the imagination that is demanded...
