HEIDENBUCKEL SURFACE SHELTER
A remarkable concrete surface shelter, an exceptional building located in the heart of the fortified region of Haguenau.
An exceptional building in the heart of the fortified region of Haguenau, the shelter features a façade with three caponiers and a single ford bell. This atypical construction is one of 5 enormous concrete surface shelters (37 meters long and 17 meters deep) built in 1932 on the eastern edge of the Haguenau forest. Its main function was to protect the gap between the surrounding Donau and Soufflenheim shelters.
