Every February 11, Lourdes celebrates the first apparition of the Virgin Mary to the young Bernadette Soubirous at the entrance to the cave.

Every year, Lourdes celebrates the anniversary of the first apparition of the Virgin Mary to little Bernadette Soubirous. On February 11, 1858, the young illiterate girl was about to cross the Gave. She then saw the Virgin standing before her at the entrance to the cave. This apparition was followed by 17 others, where the Virgin led her to the miraculous spring and told her to build a chapel. Thousands of pilgrims flock to this occasion to attend the international mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. every February 11 in the Basilica of the Rosary.
