Cistercian abbey with an impressive abbey church and a remarkable park, a heritage jewel at the foot of the castle of Mauvezin

Nestled at the foot of the Château de Mauvezin, the Abbey de l'Escaladieu, founded around 1140, is located in the Baronnies region of France. Heir to the Cistercian precepts of simplicity, its architecture is an invitation to serenity. In 1997, it was acquired by the Conseil départemental des Hautes-Pyrénées, which embarked on a restoration project to enhance its heritage while offering something new. Since 2010, it has been coordinating the "European Route of Cistercian Abbeys", offering a renewed exploration of art and technology through digital media. Worth seeing.
