Castle built in the century, the ruins located at the top of the Schlossberg mountain, with a pagan wall from the Gallo-Roman period

The ruins of the Frankenbourg castle are located at the top of the Schlossberg mountain. Although it was built in the^5th century by Clovis, human traces on this site are much older: there is a "pagan wall" dating from the Gallo-Roman period. The etymology of Frankenbourg means "castle of the Franks" and the first mentions about it date from the ^12th century. The castle was rebuilt several times and modified until the ^15th century. Beautiful remains have been preserved, such as the base of its keep and some of its buildings.
