A paleontological site holding a collection of fossils dating back 17 million years, and offering to unveil it to the public.

Dating back 17 million years, Béon is the most important paleontological site discovered in France in the last century, and a major site in Europe. Owned by the Museum de Toulouse, 90 different species have been recorded, including 50 species of mammals, reptiles, amphibians and birds. The local tourist office offers guided tours of the site in summer. For teenagers, Planète Sciences Occitanie offers summer camps with excavation sites.

What a fascinating place. The charming young paleontologist was so knowledgeable and passionate. I took our grandchildren and he explained some really complex information in English for them. It was quite mind blowing to gain an insight and a visual idea of what this part of Europe was like 17 million years ago.

Découvert un peu par hasard, nous avons pu visiter ce merveilleux site archéologique accompagnés d'un jeune guide passionné et passionnant.
Ce site majeur mériterait d'être beaucoup plus connu.
Un très agréable voyage dans le temps. ????????????
Félicitations au guide !
