Former coal mine with a solar power plant in Decazeville with many hiking trails.
Operated between 1892 and 2001, this former coal mine was the largest open-cast coal mine in France. Today rehabilitated, this site offers many hiking trails and hosts since 2017 a solar power plant. Nearby is the last headframe of the Basin, 22 meters high. A true emblem of the underground mines, this monument, which remains the witness of the important mining activity of the Basin, was built between 1902 and 1904.
