Castle dominating the valley and which belonged to the Kings of Aragon, the old stables welcome the house of the Donezan heritage
Dominating the Aude valley at 925 m, the castle is mentioned for the first time in 1035. It was partly built during the Cathar period. It was owned by the Kings of Aragon, under the management of Gaston Phoebus, and then returned to the French crown. It was the rear base of the Cathars, and history says that 4 of them and their treasure passed through it on the eve of the surrender of Montségur. The old stables of the 18th century are now home to the house of the Donezan heritage and its 700 m2 of exhibition space. The view from the spur tower is breathtaking.
